Singer 300U sewing head for a tape edge machine
The head is the sewing machine on the carriage, and it is the part of a tape edge machine that decides what the seam looks like. We sell heads on their own and on tables, new and rebuilt, and we run every one of them under power before it is crated.
A rebuilt head here has been stripped, had its wear parts replaced, had its hook and feed reset and been timed and run on the bench. If you are buying a head on its own, tell us the table it is going on, because the mounting and the drive pulley have to match.
What to look for
Read the plate
The class is on the head. We photograph it, and where it is missing or unreadable we say so instead of guessing.
Check the needle system
A 300U runs needle system 62x59. Buying a head your supplier cannot stock needles for is a slow problem.
Ask about the tilt
Motorized head tilt lets the operator change the needle angle into the border without stopping.
Ask who will time it
A tape edge head is not a domestic machine. A head we have already timed and run saves that first week.

By head class
These read the machine title, so a head that is on a table but not named in the title will not appear. Ask us and we will check the file.
The Singer 300U, by the numbers

Pfaff heads
Not every head is a Singer. European built tape edge machines are often fitted with a Pfaff chainstitch head, and we rebuild and fit those too. A Pfaff 5625 head is a heavy unit, and a table taking one has to be set up for it.
If you are buying a head on its own, tell us the table it is going on. The mounting and the drive pulley have to match, and that is a two minute question rather than a returned crate.
