The list, in the order we do it
This is what a rebuild means here. It is a list rather than a paragraph on purpose, because a list is something you can take to another seller and ask them to answer line by line.
- Carriage: track, bearings and drive stripped, measured, worn parts replaced.
- Clutch or electronic drive: rebuilt or replaced, and set up.
- Table: top checked for flat, stainless fitted where specified, extensions checked and fitted.
- Table lift: motor and screws checked, motor replaced where needed, range set.
- Sew head: stripped on the bench, wear parts replaced, hook and feed reset, timed, run.
- Head tilt: checked, and motorized where the machine takes it.
- Electrics: rewired with new components, new panel where needed, new PLC where the machine takes one.
- Corner control: slow corner arrangement reset, or an electronic control fitted.
- Paint: automotive finish with a hardened anti rub surface.
- Test: run under power, seam sewn, video recorded.
- Crating: head and carriage packed separately, machine boxed for its transport.
Ask any seller which of these they did. The answer, and how quickly it comes, tells you what you are buying.
Replaced against reset
Two different words, and the difference is the whole argument. A part is replaced when it is worn past tolerance and a new one goes in. A part is reset when it is within tolerance and only needs to be measured, adjusted and locked back down.
A rebuild that replaces everything is not better, it is more expensive. A rebuild that resets everything is not a rebuild. What you want is somebody who measured, and who will tell you which of the two happened to each part on your machine. We will.
Options worth fitting while it is apart
A machine on the bench is the cheapest it will ever be to change. These are the options the shop has offered for years and they are still the ones people ask for.
- Motorized tilting head, so the needle angle changes without stopping.
- Stainless steel top.
- Slow corner control.
- Extra height, up to 24 inches.
- Full size table, queen size table, or a queen with extensions to king.
What we will not do
We will not paint a machine and call it rebuilt. We will not fit a head we have not run. We will not sell a machine we have not powered up. And we will not tell you a frame is straight when it is not, because the machine comes back and so does the customer.
Where a machine is offered as it stands rather than rebuilt, the listing says used, as inspected, and it says what we know and what we do not. Offered as inspected. Ask us for close up photographs of anything you want to see.
Your own machine
We rebuild customer machines as well as our own, including Atlanta Attachment machines, which is work this shop has done for years. The process is the same one above, and the machine comes back to you on the same crating standard.
Send photographs of the machine, the head and the plate, tell us your supply and the mattress heights you close, and we will tell you what it needs. If it is not worth rebuilding we will say so, and we will show you what is in the catalogue instead.
